Fausto Fernandez- Painting and Graphic Design

 Mexican-American artist Fausto Fernandez graduated with a BFA in painting and graphic design from the University of Texas, El Paso. His work was chosen for inclusion in the Arizona Biennial ‘07 at the Tucson Museum of Art, and this fall three of his paintings are being shown in Remix: New Modernities in a Post-Indian World, This exhibition was organized by the Heard Museum, Phoenix, Arizona, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and co-curated by Joe Baker and Gerald McMaster. Remix opened at the Heard on October 6, 2007, and continues through April 27, 2008. It then travels to the Smithsonian’s George Gustav Heye Center in New York , where it will open in June 2008.
His first major solo exhibition was held at The Latin American Art Gallery, Scottsdale. His work was featured in 2007 at Modified in Phoenix, AZ. In January 2008 the Brooks Barrows gallery in Milwaukee included some of his paintings with other Phoenix artist, entitled Cold-Sweat. Fausto was recently selected to participate in the Tempe Center for the Arts 2008 biennial and selected as a finalist to create a proposal for the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Terrazzo Public Art Project.
